Standing Together: Djurwa Donates to Djirra’s Koori Women’s Place

Djurwa Donates to Djirra VIC's Koori Women’s Place

At Djurwa Recycling and Waste Management, we believe that business should be a force for good. As a proud Indigenous-owned, profit-for-purpose company, we are committed to supporting organisations that uplift and protect our communities.

This week, we were honoured to donate a van full of essential items and thoughtful treats to Djirra’s Koori Women’s Place in Abbotsford, Victoria. This culturally safe space provides vital support to Aboriginal women, offering connection, care, and culturally grounded services.

The donation was presented by our Managing Director Nathan Martin, and Scott McCartney, CEO of Yalagan Group and Advisor to Djurwa, to Antoinette Braybrook AM, CEO of Djirra. This gesture recognises Djirra’s powerful and ongoing work in preventing and addressing family violence in Aboriginal communities.

Djirra’s trauma-informed programs, Sisters Day Out®, Young Luv®, and Dilly Bag, draw on cultural strength to build resilience, reduce isolation, and promote healthy relationships. These initiatives are a lifeline for many, and we are proud to stand alongside Djirra in their mission to create safer, stronger communities for Aboriginal women and children.

We know that real change happens when purpose and partnership come together. We look forward to continuing our support for Djirra and other organisations making a meaningful impact.
